Although headquartered in Japan, the INFINITI brand has made a home here in the United States with an engaging lineup of luxury vehicles — many of which are also assembled in this country. But that success shouldn’t be a surprise: INFINITI was launched in 1989 specifically to meet the needs of U.S. drivers. It was all part of a concerted effort by the big Japanese automakers to attract more customers with new upscale brands that also included Toyota’s Lexus and Honda’s Acura.
